What is Training

Training is a process of learning a sequence of programmed behavior. It is application of knowledge it provides people an awareness of rule and procedure to guide their behavior. It attempts to improve their performance on the current job or prepare them for an intended job.

According to Edwin d Flippo “the purpose of training is to achieve a change in the behavior of those trained and to enable them to do their jobs better.”

In order to achieve this objective any training programme should try to bring positive changes in:-
Knowledge –It helps a trainee to know facts polices, procedure, and rules pertaining to this job. 

Skills-It helps him to increase his technical and manual efficiency necessary to do the job. 

Attitude-It moulds his behavior towards his co workers and supervisor and creates a sense of responsibility in trainee. 

Training is one of the most important functions of the human resource, which is taken up in every organization to retain good and competent workforce as its main purpose is to:  
1.      Improve the efficiency of the employees.
2.      To motivate the employees.
3.      To make them aware about new developments.
4.      For effective utilization of resources.

Techniques of training and development
There are mainly two types of techniques by which managers can acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes and make them self competent manager. one is through formal training and other is through on the job experience.
